Learning History Through Living History Program

November 1, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Come to the Starksboro Village Meeting House on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at 7:00 pm for the program “Learning History through Living History,” presented by Starksboro resident Michael Blakeslee. The program is sponsored by the Starksboro Historical Society and Meeting House Society. Blakeslee is a long-time local reenactor. He will discuss his experiences as a living historian and his perspectives on reliving the past—from 1609 and the arrival of French explorer Samuel de Champlain to 1865 and the end of the American Civil War. He has a wide range of interests and knowledge about the past. Hear what he has learned from the people of the past and how he presents this history today to engage students of all ages. He will bring a variety of show and tell items, which help bring this history to life. Starksboro’s Civil War soldiers came to the Meeting House to enlist, and this is a fitting location for the program.
This event is free and open to the public. All are welcome. Light refreshments.
