DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, October 24\, Green Mountain Club’s Bread Loaf Section and the Middlebury College Environmental Studies program will offer a fall program “Living with Bears\,” presented by Vermont Fish and Wildlife Bear Technician Molly Byrne\, who will help us better understand our ursine neighbors.  \nMolly will introduce general information about bear ecology and behavior with a focus on their life cycle and food needs. The presentation will also explore conflicts between people and bears\, diving deeper into what draws them into our backyards and what we can do to prevent this from happening. Our hope is to increase this community’s understanding of bears and to help them take steps to be active stewards of this iconic species.  \nThe program will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Twilight Hall of Middlebury College\, Franklin St\, Middlebury and is open to the public. Doors will open at 6:30. Admission is free\, however voluntary donations will be accepted. All donations support the Green Mountain Club. Accessible parking and nearby parking is available on Franklin Street and Academy Street.

DESCRIPTION:The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 14 in Vergennes will be hosting our annual Trunk or Treat on Sunday October 29th from 2:00pm-3:00pm at the American Legion Post 14 in Vergennes. Trunk or Treat is a safe alternative to Trick or Treating and is done in a coned off area of the parking lot of the American Legion Post #14 in Vergennes. Parents and community members will register to bring their cars and goodies to distribute from their decorated trunk. Families will be lead to the parking area and will begin walking car to car for treats. This is great for people who live out of town and don’t get trick or treaters\, and for anyone with ambulatory issues. It is also great way to promote your business\, civic organization\, or church. It is done in the daylight and children will be home before dark. If you would like to register your vehicle for Trunk or Treat\, please contact Martha DeGraaf at 802-349-0299 or email at marsulli75@gmail.com. Trunk or Treating begins at 2:00PM and ends at 3:00PM. All vehicles must arrive ½ hour before the trick or treating. You are responsible for your own candy or treats.
