DERBY LINE, Vt. (WCAX) – The Derby Line Fire Department responded to a building that had gone up in flames Tuesday.
The building, a garage with an apartment over it, became an inferno Tuesday night and was destroyed. Fire Chief Craig Ellam tells us it was already starting to collapse when they arrived at the scene on Shattuck Hill Road near the Walmart.
No one was inside, so no one was hurt by the blaze, and they managed to save a nearby home.
But some teens were taken to the hospital after running inside to save some animals. They are okay after being treated for smoke inhalation.
The chief says they’re still looking into the cause of the fire.
