WINOOSKI, Vt. (WCAX) – Could you qualify for a discounted heat pump?
A new offer from Efficiency Vermont covers up to $5,000 – the standard cost – of heat pump equipment and installation for low-income households. Moderate-income households can get 90% cash back on a heat pump, up to $4,500. The offer is possible through $5 million from the American Rescue Plan Act. Efficiency Vermont hopes it enables more Vermonters to choose a greener form of heating with long term savings.
“This removes that barrier and really helps eliminate some of those upfront costs and get these really cool systems into people’s homes faster,” Efficiency Vermont’s Matthew Smith said.
Ineligible households and rental property owners can also get hundreds of dollars in heat pump rebates, with additional savings from other utilities.
