BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Parts of the U.S. including us here in Vermont, got a great view of the northern lights Friday night into early Saturday.
We’ve gotten a ton of viewer photos from across the northern areas of our state, and our staff here at Channel 3 even got outside to snap some pics too. It’s the first severe geomagnetic storm watch issued in nearly 20 years. The space weather prediction center says at least five coronal mass ejections have been directed towards earth. These explosions of plasma, and magnetic fields from the sun’s corona create the light show.
