BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Earlier this week, Northfield held its 50th Labor Day parade. The very first one was on this day in 1976.
Born as part of the town’s US bicentennial celebration, the parade was smaller than those that would evolve over the years.
However, it still featured many of the familiar sites, including plenty of bands, politicians, and the Norwich University Corps of Cadets.
The humble start would grow into an annual tradition that is now the largest in the state.
