BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A championship celebration took place in Burlington on this day in history.
On September 12, 1984, fans gathered downtown to honor the Vermont Reds, the Cincinnati Reds’ Double-A team that won the Eastern League Championship in their very first season playing in Burlington.
The team boasted a bevy of future major leaguers, drawing big crowds to UVM’s Centennial Field.
The Vermont Reds also won the league title the next two seasons.
