Burlington man shot by police arraigned in hospital bed

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The man shot by Burlington Police after a standoff last weekend was arraigned from his hospital bed on Friday.

Aaron Loucks, 32, caused an hours-long standoff on Riverside Avenue Sunday, allegedly threatening police and neighbors, including using racial slurs towards children. After multiple officers unsuccessfully tried using nondeadly force, Ofc. Brady McGee shot him.

He pleaded not guilty to charges of threatening and aggravated disorderly conduct.

Court records indicate he’ll likely remain in the hospital for some time. Prosecutors noted that there is no mental health order holding Loucks in the hospital.

The court has ordered a competency evaluation.
