NEW YORK (WCAX) – As of yesterday, New York state has started mailing its first-ever inflation refund checks to over 8 million households state wide.
If you filed a tax return, are below the income thresholds, and no one else claimed you as a dependent, you will receive a check mailed directly to you. There’s nothing you have to do to get it.
Single filers with income no more than $150,000 and joint filers with income no more than $300,000 will receive a check with up to $400.
“I’m keenly sensitive and empathetic to what families are going through, because sometimes it seems everything’s stacked against you. But I want to make people feel different in New York,” said New York Governor Kathy Hochul.
Checks are expected to be delivered throughout October and November.
