Thousands attend 64th annual Halloween parade in Rutland

RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – Goblins and ghouls filled the streets for the 64th annual Halloween parade, drawing thousands of spectators to the Marble City.

Streets around the city closed at 5 p.m. and many will remain closed until after 8 p.m. for the event.

Thousands of people dressed up and gathered downtown to watch participants who spent months decorating and designing floats and costumes for the march through Rutland’s downtown.

The parade features a new theme each year, attracting participants of all ages.

Caroline Casella of Castleton said her group enjoys the annual tradition of dressing up.

“So fun just like dressing up every year a couple years ago we did shrek last year we did the grinch,” Casella said.

Audrey Loomis of Castleton participated in her first parade as an alien.

“It really nice being able to do this because its my first time ever being in this parade and I always wanted to do it and I’m glad I get to do it being an alien,” Loomis said.

After the parade, guests can attend the first silent disco at the Paramount Theater on Center Street.
