WARDSBORO, Vt. (WCAX) – The Vermont state vegetable took center stage at the 24th annual Gilfeather Turnip Festival and Growing Contest.
The festival honors John Gilfeather, the first person to cultivate the rutabaga-turnip hybrid that bears his name.
Vendors offered soups and dishes featuring the versatile vegetable, while attendees received tips on growing their own turnips.
