Connecticut man charged with negligent homicide after fatal crash in Newport

NEWPORT, Vt. (WCAX) – A woman is dead after a bad crash in Newport.

Newport police say that at around 3:45 pm on Friday, 49-year-old Dylan Galland of East Windsor, Connecticut, was driving his pickup truck going east on Maple Street in town when he crossed the centerline.

He then collided head-on with a jeep driven by a woman in the opposite lane, causing her car to roll over.

She was found dead at the scene. Her identity is being withheld at this time.

Galland was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers say Galland was impaired at the time of the crash. He is now facing charges for driving while intoxicated and negligent homicide.
