Vernon, Vt. (WCAX) – A 25-year-old California man was arrested Friday evening on charges related to the sexual abuse of a vulnerable adult.
Sidney Rivers Jr. of Eureka, California, was taken into custody by Windham County Sheriff’s Office deputies in Vernon without incident, according to Detective Sergeant M. Checchi.
Rivers faces three charges: abuse of a vulnerable adult involving sexual abuse by a caretaker, sexual assault without consent, and vulnerable adult sexual abuse by a caretaker involving lewd and lascivious conduct.
The arrest followed the issuance of a warrant by the Superior Court of Vermont Criminal Division Windham Unit. Deputies developed information about Rivers’ possible whereabouts before locating him Friday evening.
Rivers was lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday with bail set at $100,000.
