Career criminal Harley Breer denied parole

WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – A notorious career criminal who has made headlines in Vermont for decades has been denied parole after making his case to a parole board this week.

Harley Breer’s rap sheet dates back to the late 1980s for crimes including kidnapping, rape, and assault.

Around this time last year, Vermont corrections officials planned to release him on furlough. But after community outcry and a second look at the case, they reversed course and kept him behind bars.

He made his case to a parole board this week to be released, but was denied.

He remains behind bars on his original four-to-10-year sentence. His maximum sentence ends in October 2030.
