Colchester shooting suspect pleads not guilty to 2nd degree murder

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – An Enosburgh man accused in a Colchester shooting over the weekend pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday to second-degree murder.

Authorities say Dakota Ward, 20, is charged with shooting 25-year-old Zacariah Tourville of Milton, Saturday evening, outside a home on Blakely Road.

According to witnesses, police say the two knew each other and that they got into an argument that led Ward to shoot Tourville in the face and try to hit his girlfriend with a car.

Tourville was able to get to the police department across the street. As of Sunday, he was still recovering at the hospital.

Ward faces charges including second-degree murder and two counts of reckless endangerment. He is being held without bail.
