WILLISTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Protesters gathered nationwide as they marked one year of the Trump administration, with rallies taking place across Vermont.
With a sweeping election victory in 2024, President Trump took office in January as concerns of inflation and the economy were top of mind. Now, his approval rating on the economy is slightly lower than his overall approval rating, according to a Fox News poll.
A Reuters poll found the president’s most recent priority — taking over Greenland — is only supported by one in five Americans. The majority of Americans also believe Trump has gone too far on deporting undocumented immigrants, cutting federal programs, and making changes to the Smithsonian and Kennedy Center.
In Williston, protesters gathered outside a government ICE facility near the shopping plaza as part of the “National Day of Action Walkout.” The rally was opposed to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Flyers online told protesters to cover their faces.
In White River Junction, protesters gathered in Lyman Point Park.
Protests also happened in Burlington, Fairfax, and Morrisville.
