BRADFORD, Vt. (WCAX) – A Bradford man is in critical condition after a fire in a camper, State Police say.
Vermont State Police say first responders were dispatched to a fire on Goshen Road Saturday afternoon around 1:20 p.m. There, they found 65-year-old Mark Hewes inside a camper with burns on his arms, ears, neck, and face.
He was brought to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and then flown to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where he’s currently in critical condition, according to State Police.
Investigators believe the fire was sparked by a portable heater.
They say it’s a reminder to not leave your space heater unattended, and keep it at least 3 feet away from anything flammable.
