Rutland, Vt. (WCAX) – Just in time for the coldest weather Vermont has seen in the last few years, the Vermont Farmers Food Center unveils new renovations to the building.
There’s a new heating system, with heated floors throughout the building. The center hosts the Vermont Farmer’s Market when it moves indoors for the season, and staff member Heidi Lynch says it’s crucial for farmers to be able to sell their wares any time of the year.
“Availability of that food and the availability for farmers to sell their products year-round is primary to why this place exists. Honestly, for some farms, this is a paycheck. That’s part of why we want to make the facility like this accessible,” Lynch said.
The Vermont Farmer’s Market is open today and every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. until May 2.
