BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – A judge granted the release Friday of Steven Tendo, a Ugandan asylum-seeker detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement earlier this month. That’s according to our media partners at Seven Days.
Tendo, a UVM Medical Center licensed nursing assistant and pastor, has been living in Vermont since 2021 under a stay of removal, which had delayed his deportation order.
He was detained earlier this month and brought to a facility in New Hampshire.
The judge granted his release on Friday while the case continues.
