RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – Snowmobiles returned to the Vermont State Fairgrounds in Rutland for the seventh year as part of the city’s Winterfest celebration.
The event was started by Jack Miglorie when he was younger. Now 13, Miglorie and his family have expanded the festival to display new and old snowmobile models, and offer free riding on the oval at the historic fairgrounds.
“I started driving a Yamaha 2018 SnoScoot 200 and then now like I don’t know five years later I’m driving this big thing,” Miglorie said.
Organizers said the festival is a welcoming place for people to learn about snowmobiling or simply enjoy the snow.
“A group of people that are very willing to help and help each other out — like somebody’s out on the track that broke down right now and they’re all out there trying to get back in,” said Andrea Hathaway-Miglorie of Rutland.
Rutland’s Winterfest is scheduled to wrap up next week.
