Bolton to create special fund to pay for flood damage

BOLTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The town of Bolton is creating a special fund to help pay for flood damage.

The 2024 floods brought heavy damage to Bolton’s roads. While the town waited for FEMA funds, Bolton took out 3 million dollars in loans.

This week, Town Meeting day voters created a special reserve fund, to help pay down the incurred debt.

“We’re trying to set aside and create basically a lock box of sorts, so that any money that we get from FEMA is then reserved to pay down this debt that the town has incurred,” says Bolton town clerk Michael Webber.

The ballot item passed on a voice vote at their town meeting.
