BROOKFIELD, Vt. (WCAX) – It’s a sure sign of spring — Brookfield’s famed Floating Bridge is open for the season.
VTrans on Friday afternoon said that the Route 65 crossing over Sunset Lake is officially open.
The bridge is closed every winter for safety.
It’s one of the only floating bridges in the country, and the only one in the Northeast. The first bridge was made back in 1820 out of logs chained together. It has been redone over the years, with the most recent renovation completed in 2015.
