ESSEX, Vt. (WCAX) – A driver and passengers escaped without injuries Thursday night after a fire destroyed their car in Essex.
It happened around 6:30 p.m. on Allen Martin Drive. Essex Police said the car was fully engulfed in flames when emergency responders arrived.
They say the passengers tried to smother the flames before escaping safely.
The blaze began spreading to trees, causing concern among firefighters because of the very dry conditions.
Officials say the fire started in the overhead console and was caused by an electrical issue.
