WILLISTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Turner Toys in Williston is accepting Halloween candy donations this weekend to send to military troops overseas.
The store has collected over 150 pounds of candy so far. For every pound brought in, donors receive a Turner Toy’s Buck that can be spent in the store.
“It seems like it’s ‘oh it’s just candy’ but kids are really having to make critical choices and decisions about what they want to keep and then when they earn money what they want to spend it on. So it’s just really fun to be a part of families lives and celebrations that way,” said Elizabeth Skinner, co-owner of Turner Toys.
The store will continue collecting candy until Sunday around 3 p.m.
