BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – As air travelers across the country brace for flight cancellations due to the government shutdown, as of noontime Friday, only one flight had been called off in Burlington.
An American Airlines flight from Philadelphia scheduled to arrive at the Burlington airport around 3:30 p.m. was canceled. However, we don’t know if that was related to the flight reductions or not.
The FAA ordered flight cuts at 40 airports across the country over air traffic control shortages, leaving passengers and airlines scrambling.
More than 800 flights were canceled nationwide on Friday, according to FlightAware, a website that tracks flight disruptions. Not all were due to the FAA order.
WCAX News will be keeping an eye on the reductions that impact travelers in Vermont and keep you updated.
