WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – Rifle hunting season begins Saturday, and local gun stores have been busy this week as hunters gear up for the two-week season.
Henry Parro with Parro’s Gun Shop in Waterbury says hunters tend to wait until the last minute to prepare.
“This is the week before opening and we call it ‘The Big Week.’ It’s the pre-hunting season, so it’s been good,” Parro said.
Hunters are reminded to get the right ammunition, clean and prepare their firearms, and dress warmly for the season.
Anyone venturing into wooded areas, whether hunting or not, should wear blaze orange clothing for safety.
