RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) – Rutland County businesses continue their effort to bolster trade jobs in the area.
Business owners and contractors met Thursday for breakfast to discuss ways to increase interest in the trades.
Many of them participated in an expo last May, where they learned about different programs to help find new employees, like training incentives from the state or different grants to apply for.
Russ Marson with landscaping company Carpenter & Costin says new blood is needed in the workforce. “There’s been a really big push for kids to go to college, go into academics. And while that’s important — and we need those people — it’s not always a fit for everybody,” he said.
The “Bring Back the Trades” skills expo hopes to return in 2027.
