Tick Tock, It’s Time to find out what makes Ticks Tick!

The New Haven Conservation Commission hosts Middlebury College Professor, Dave Allen who will present his research on “The ecology of ticks and tick-borne diseases”.

Dave grew up in Springfield, VT, in the 80s and 90s without ever seeing any ticks. He returned in 2010 and, like many others, was surprised and dismayed by how often he encountered them. This spurred his current research interest. Tick populations and their associated pathogens are influenced by a complex set of ecological, climate, and landscape factors . As a result, it is challenging to pinpoint a single cause of this increase in tick populations.
