BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – On this day in history, we go back just one year ago to January 23, 2025.
Hundreds of law enforcement vehicles escorted a fallen border patrol agent through Burlington.
The procession followed the hearse carrying the body of Agent Chris Maland.
The 44-year-old was killed earlier in the week in a shootout on Interstate 91 in the northeast kingdom.
The suspect was arrested and later determined to be a member of a cult-like group linked to five other killings.
