MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Michael Drescher was confirmed to Vermont’s Supreme Court on Tuesday after a tight vote in the Senate. Lt. Gov. John Rodgers cast the deciding vote following a 15-15 split in the state Senate.
The nomination of the former acting U.S. attorney for Vermont was contentious due to Drescher’s role in various immigration cases brought by the Trump administration.
The Senate also confirmed Christina Nolan’s nomination 23-7. She served as Vermont’s U.S. attorney during the first Trump administration.
