People protest attack on Iran in Burlington

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – People gathered outside of Burlington City Hall Saturday afternoon to protest the United States and Israeli attacks on Iran.

On Sunday, there will be a similar protest held in Brattleboro in Pliny Park on Main St. at 1 p.m.

Channel 3 asked people walking on Church Street what they thought about it.

WCAX Reporter Abigail Saxe: “When you saw the news this morning what was your reaction?”

“I was a bit nervous at first, because I have family who lives in Iran, but I know in my heart that majority of Iranians and my family were very happy and joyous it’s a joyous moment,” Ali Jafari of Burlington said.

“I think there’s been a lot of action recently that goes against what most of the American people want this is just another example of that and something that’LL just create more fear at a time where fear’s already really high,” Sarah Vanhora of Burlington said.

“The regime in power there is an atrocious mess, they destabilized the entire area and for decades, I’ve jumped up and down all the way back to the days in my service that we need to treat their proxies when they attack us or our interest as an act of war,” Eric Byrd of Burlington said.

“Violence is never the right option, I mean people say it’s the only option he has, but I feel like that’s just not true,” Noah Purviance of Colchester said.
