BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – Prosecutors say they are working on a plea agreement for the man accused of gouging the eyes of another driver during a road rage incident in Winooski.
It happened last August on Malletts Bay Avenue. Police say Aaron Williams, 44, of Shelburne, passed a car driven by Ronnie Bushway, 46, brake checked him, got out of the car and assaulted Bushway by punching him and gouging both of his eyes.
Williams remains behind bars after pleading not guilty to assault charges.
Prosecutors said Tuesday they plan to make an offer in the next several weeks, but nothing has been finalized yet.
At last check, Bushway said his vision in his right eye has largely been restored. He has regained some vision in his left eye, but it will have permanent damage. He had multiple surgeries on his eyes after the incident.
