The Historical Society has recently received a donation of an 1857 Wallings wall map of Addison County, the inspiration for the program. Michael Blakeslee and Elsa Gilbertson, members of both societies, will show images of maps over time and what they can reveal about Starksboro.
Of particular interest will be orthoquad aerial photo maps and the most recent LIDAR (Light detection and ranging remote sensing) mapping being conducted by the State of Vermont. The LIDAR mapping can reveal old roads, cellar holes, and interesting landforms. All these maps are good resources for doing research.
All welcome. Light refreshments. Donations to the historical society and Meeting House for the restoration project are appreciated. Parking behind Meeting House and in the town center lot in back of the town clerk’s office.
