The Monkton Museum and Historical Society hosts a community gathering honoring Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.
7:00- Meeting Welcome– We ask you to share any personal memories about MLK Jr.’s impact on you personally. This could be your memory of hearing his speeches or civil rights actions, or where you were on that fateful April day in 1968.
7:15- Share a short video of his inspiring words in his voice.
7:30- Discussion of the video and how it can translate into our own call to service in our community through sharing and teaching of our local history. As you think of ways to help grow history, consider this year’s theme from the Martin Luther King Jr. Center: “Mission Possible: Protecting Freedom, Justice, and Democracy in the Spirit of Nonviolence”.
