Amherst netted five goals in the second period, propelling the visiting Mammoths (3-6-1, 2-4-1) past the Middlebury men’s hockey team 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon in Kenyon Arena. The Panthers (1-7-0, 0-6-0) head to Plattsburgh State on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. start, while Amherst is home at the same time against Connecticut College.

The Mammoths had a good opportunity to open the scoring in the first period with a power play at the 8:26 mark. Middlebury was solid in muting the advantage, allowing only a pair of shots from the perimeter. Chris Garbe provided the Panthers with a chance minutes
